Q 1. How do I REGISTER for a course?
A 1. First, select your preferred course subject area (Sitework Estimating, Building Estimating, Construction Management, Online Courses, etc.) by clicking on one of the buttons located on the left hand side of the home page. This will open a list of courses that are available for the subject selected.
Next, click the name of the course that you would like to register for. This will bring up a description of the course. Click View Schedule-Register, to begin registering.
Q 2. I am taking your online continuing education course for my license renewal. Do you have any instructions that will be helpful?
A 2. Please make sure that you utilize the WINDOWS INTERNET EXPLORER web browser when taking the online courses.
Do not use AOL or Mozilla.
A. To begin taking your courses or to view your account please go to: www.estimating.org
B. Click on the Login button that is located at the upper left hand side of the page
C. Type in your username and password and then click on Login. Please note that your username and password are case sensitive.
D. The screen will show My Account
Scroll down and find My Online Courses
The individual course titles must all be completed per your license renewal requirement
E. To begin, Click on the first course title
F. Type in your name and your Florida Contractor License number and then click the link to start the course.
G. You will be notified that you have Successfully Completed The Course and to click on the Submit button
Your completed course data electronically transfers to our reporting department upon clicking the Submit Button, and we report your completed hours to the State.
H. Most course titles are 50 minutes long.
The 4 Courses that have Part 1 and Part 2 in their titles are 100 minutes long.
We have divided the 14 hours into individual course titles so that you do not have to stay on the course 14 continuous hours.
You have up until midnight of August 31st to complete online courses or to attend a Live classroom course.
Electrical Contractors Requirement
A Home Study Workbook with a 50 question quiz will be mailed to you if you have enrolled for the online course.
if you have enrolled to attend a Live classroom course your Home Study Workbook will be handed to you at the class.
Please complete the 50 question quiz and mail or fax back to us no later than by midnight August 31, 2010.
If you are attending a Live classroom course you can complete the quiz at the class or you can complete it at home and return it by fax 941-346-0221 or by mailing to our office.
The returned Home Study quiz sheet will complete your 7 hours of technical trade for the electrical license.
If you carry only an Electrical License then you will need to complete 7 online hours in addition to the Home Study workbook quiz, or you can opt to attend 7 Live classroom course hours from 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM in addition to the Home Study workbook quiz.
Contractors who hold an ELECTRICAL license AND an ADDITIONAL contractor license CLASSIFICATION such as a CGC, CAC, CUC license etc will need to complete 14 hours online or 14 hours in the Live classroom course PLUS the Home Study Workbook 50 question Quiz.
Q 3. When will your new schedule of classes be posted?
A 3. Our Fall of 2010 through Spring of 2011 class schedule will be available on our website near the end of July.
Q 4. Do you offer any of your courses in a home study format?
A 4. Yes, we have several. The homestudy courses come complete and are ready for you to immediately begin your training. They also include the specific course manuals, blue prints and additional study materials.

Q 5. Do you have courses for dirt work?
A 5. Yes, we have live instructor-led and DVD home study courses available for estimating earthwork, estimating underground utilities, and estimating roadwork and paving. The five day Estimating Sitework Construction includes the earthwork, underground utilities, and the roadwork & paving courses. Estimating Sitework Construction is also availble in the DVD home study format.
Q 6. Do you have estimating training for an entire commercial building, top to bottom?
A 6. Yes. The five day Estimating Commercial Construction course. Please click the Building Estimating Course Button and then select the Estimating Commercial Construction course title.
Q 7. Do you offer any training on increasing our profit margins?
A 7. We recommend the Estimating Overhead and Profit training course. The Fall through Spring course dates and locations will post on our website in July
Q 8. We need training to get our field supervisors and foremen more efficient with running their jobs and crews and we were referred to your outfit?
A 8. The Effective Construction Supervision course provides outstanding training for field supervisors, foremen, laborers, and for any of your employees that are involved with your field personnel.
Q 9. We are involved in a variety of projects that include most phases of construction and I am looking for a basic blueprint reading training?
A 9. The DELUXE Blueprint Reading Library is Described in Bookstore Publication # 9, and provides complete training in residential, light commercial, and civil blueprint reading. The Deluxe package is excellent for company owners and HR staffs seeking to incorporate additional construction training programs that are easy to manage and include measurable tests and quizzes to properly track employee improvement and aptitude.
Q 10. We need help with estimating metal stud work?
A 10. The Estimating Structural Building costs, that is listed within our Building Estimating Courses, will provide you with excellent training in metal stud and much more.
Q 11. We are getting more involved with paving work and could use some training on costing these projects?
A 11. The Estimating Roadwork and Paving course will train you in the primary aspects of estimating roadwork and paving construction so that you will be able to implement a structured system for job costs by accuaratly assessing equipment, labor, material and other service costs involved in the completion of roadwork projects.
Q 12. What are the class hours for your courses?
A 12. 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM.
If you are attending a Florida Contractor Live classroom continuing education class then the start time is at 7:00 AM with check in starting at 6:30 AM.
Please bring your drivers license and a copy of your Florida contractors license for check in.
Q 13. We are a civil construction company. I am bringing my boys into the business, and I need something that will help them learn to read prints correctly and possibly understand more about this business. Do you have anything that can help us?
A 13. Yes. Please click on the BOOK STORE at the top left side of the page, and then look at publications 11 and 12.
Publication 11 is the Civil Blueprint Reading Home Study course and it arrives complete with an instructional DVD, a set of sample blueprints, and a text.
This solid Home Study course covers engineering plans for earthwork, underground utilities, roadwork, and paving. They will learn where to look, how to visualize what a drawing is showing, where to find other views - such as sections and details -and ways to speed up comprehension.
Q 14. Do you present your courses on a private basis?
A 14. Yes, we offer private onsite training. The private onsite courses are presented at your facility or at your preferred location and are geared specifically toward your buisness and your attending employees.
Q 15. We need a course for reading and understanding commerical blueprints?
A 15. Publication 10 in our BOOK STORE
Q 16. Does your project management course differ from the typical project management courses?
A 16. Our The Successful Project Management course is recognized for its real world construction approach. The instructors that present our courses have extensive hands on experience and they provide training that is the most current. Our training is based on implementing quality at the incept of the project and our training will show you how to become consistent with your approach and technique.
Q 17. When does your next catalog of courses become available?
A 17. Our first catalog of the year mails out in August, and is followed by issues in October, December, and February. Our end of the year is in June, and near the end of July we post our Fall through Spring classes on our website. If you click on the Free Catalog button at the bottom left-hand side of our home page and complete the form and we will mail you our latest catalog and all following catalogs as they become available.
